We never made it to Hornby Island that day
The Stone Family, Roxalana, WV, 1936. My mother, in the 2nd row, 2nd from the right, was 14 years old.
This is the house where my grandmother was born. I'm sure it looked a lot better back then. And without the sign.
The Ohio River, as seen from my grandmother's house on "The Bank of the Ohio". Across the river is Muse's Bottom, West Virginia, a piece of land that was bought by my ancestor Major Charles Smith, around 1800, after fighting in the Revolutionary War.
